Boatmaster III

This course and its contents are based on the S.C.V. Code (Small Commercial Vessel Code). The syllabus and model training course have been prepared by the I.M.O. (International Maritime Organisation) for vessels in the Caribbean. Some modification to the model has been included in order to present the best training possible.

 

SCOPE

The course is designed for mariners who operate open vessels in coastal waters not more than 20 miles from a safe refuge.

 

Participants will develop skills in seamanship, boat handling, basic navigation, meteorology, communication, emergency procedures and small engine repair.

 

DURATION & DELIVERY

Duration of this course is 10 days and includes 2 days of outboard engine trouble shooting and maintenance. Classes are from 8:00am to 4:00pm, 5 days a week. A combination of lectures, demonstrations, models, videos and practical training aboard an open vessel is used in order to deliver this course.

COURSE CERTIFICATE

Upon completion of training and successful examination the candidate will receive a certificate of completion from the Institute and will be eligible to receive a License of Boatmaster Grade III from Maritime Services.
